“Dad, is there a God?”Posted: March 27, 2012 | |
Great question, kid.
No, there is no God. And there is also nothing out there that you can’t see, hear, feel, smell, taste or most importantly, understand. We don’t know everything, but we will get there if we think logically and realistically about this universe of ours.
Reality is just what it is. All you need to do is open your eyes, look at it and figure out how it works. And it is simple to see that it works perfectly – it doesn’t contradict itself in any way. You roll the ball – it rolls. You push a book, it doesn’t roll – right?
“Yes. But what about all the people that believe in God, are they wrong?”
No, they’re not wrong, they just invented an idea that is out of reality. This is why you can’t prove them right or wrong. In my mind, their idea is worse than being wrong. When you’re wrong about something in reality, reality will prove you wrong, you can learn from that, correct and improve. When you just invent stuff that is not a part of reality there is no basis for a discussion.
“So, I should stick only to things that are part of reality?”
Yes, including feelings, emotions, thoughts and concepts. They are all part of reality. We will talk about those some other time. Go to sleep, it’s getting late. I love you.
